PLAYWAY & PRE-NURSERY · 2+ YEARS

Their first little
world of learning.

For a two-year-old, starting school is a big change. Pre-Nursery and Playway at Kabira School are built to make that change gentle — a warm welcome, a predictable routine, and a teacher who learns your child's name, habits and comforts within the first few weeks.

ABOUT THIS STAGE

Belonging, before
anything else.

At this age, children are just beginning to spend time away from home and explore a wider world of people, sounds and textures. What matters most isn't a worksheet — it's whether a child feels safe enough to look around, listen and eventually join in. Pre-Nursery at Kabira is built around that first sense of belonging.

WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP

Small steps,
steady growth.

SETTLING IN & CONFIDENCE

Feeling comfortable away from home

Gentle routines and a familiar rhythm help your child settle in at their own pace.

COMMUNICATION

Listening, speaking and vocabulary

Rhymes, conversation and picture books build the words a child needs to express themselves.

SENSORY & MOTOR SKILLS

Exploring through touch and movement

Sensory play, colours, shapes and simple movement activities support early fine motor development.

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS

Comfort, first.
Then curiosity.

Learning at this stage happens through comfort and repetition, not instruction — a familiar song at the same time each day, a favourite corner to sit in, a teacher who responds warmly to a child's first attempts at a new word.

EXPERIENCES AT THIS STAGE

A few familiar
moments.

  1. 01

    Circle time

A warm welcome, names and a good-morning song, helping children feel noticed and settled for the day ahead.

  2. 02

    Sensory play

Sand, water, textures and colours to touch and explore, building sensory awareness and early fine-motor control.

  3. 03

    Story corner

Picture books and simple stories, read aloud together to grow vocabulary, listening and comprehension.

  4. 04

    Free play

Time to explore toys, movement and early friendships, where independence and imagination take the lead.

Confidence at two years old looks like a child willing to try — a new food, a new friend, a new corner of the room. That's what we build toward first, alongside every other skill.

MOVING FORWARD

From comfort
to curiosity.

As comfort grows into curiosity, children are ready for Nursery — where exploration becomes more purposeful.

PRE-NURSERY QUESTIONS

A few things
you may ask.

What age is Pre-Nursery suitable for?

Pre-Nursery is for children who are approximately 2 years and older. Our team can help you decide if your child is ready during your enquiry.

Will my child be upset about separating from home?

Some settling-in time is normal for most children. Our teachers work closely with parents in the first weeks to make the transition as gentle as possible.

What does my child actually do in a Pre-Nursery day?

A mix of circle time, sensory play, stories and free play, paced around rest and comfort rather than a fixed academic schedule.
